As a Lean Six Sigma practitioner in retail and product education, Allyson was brought in to lead a struggling, under-resourced department. She spearheaded a comprehensive restructuring effort to improve span of control and address staff disengagement. Through market analysis and collaboration, Allyson created new roles, developed clear job descriptions, and established relevant KPIs that were both attainable and motivational.

She implemented standardized operating procedures to streamline workflows, align teams, and reduce inefficiencies across departments. These changes transformed a fragmented team into a cohesive, global education unit, responsible for delivering product training across 61 countries.

Education (post-secondary)

Allyson leveraged her Lean Six Sigma expertise to conduct a comprehensive operational review at a post-secondary institution, focusing on efficiency, alignment with the new Strategic Plan, and addressing an expansive span of control. She led process mapping for 18 positions within the department, identifying workflow inefficiencies and areas for improvement, which resulted in enhanced operational alignment and better management support.

Allyson facilitated two multi-day staff workshops and conducted individual interviews to streamline recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning. Her efforts reduced staff burden during vacancies and helped refine position structures to allow for cross-training and comprehensive coverage across departments.

This initiative was especially critical following the amalgamation of three distinct units during the COVID-19 pandemic, where her analysis supported the department’s restructuring efforts. Key deliverables included detailed process maps and a comprehensive report, which justified funding for additional positions, demonstrating the alignment between operations and the institution’s strategic goals.
